Washington Post “Top Fan” Serves Perfect Rebuttal to Russian Bot

At 1:52am on Monday, Lacey Ocampo, a 27 year old “Top Fan” of the Washington Post, crafted the perfect response to a comment on an article about the 2020 election. After hitting enter, a visibly relieved Ocampo sat back waiting for the congratulations to come pouring in, not realizing she was responding to a Russian bot masquerading as a human.

The bot, acting under the pseudonym Phil Phillips, replied “TRUMP will alway be the presedent” approximately three seconds after a Washington Post article about Trump’s efforts to dispute the election outcome went live. The reply immediately started garnering laughter and anger reactions, but only Ocampo was brave enough to jump in the fray.

“ACTUALLY,” she caps locked, “THE CHEETO IN CHIEF LOST THE ELECTION! Joe Biden beat DRUMPF by over 7 million votes, but you MAGAts only know how to count to (TRE)45(ON)!”

Her fiery response was liked by several other “Top Fans” and met with responses like “YASSS QUEEN” and “GO OFF GURL!” But after several minutes, real, human Trump supporters began to also reply with comments like “shut up” and “SHUT UP.”

The bot, unaffected, waited until Washington Post posted another article about the election and Trump to again post “TRUMP will alway be the presedent.”
